In 2018, Trumbull Foundry was honored to be selected for a major infrastructure project at the heart of New York City: the replacement of century-old subway arches that had served the city for over 100 years. The Chevron Project marked a turning point—not only in preserving historical integrity—but also in reinforcing the safety and longevity of the city’s underground transit system.
Trumbull was tasked with producing the new custom metal castings that would replace the aging subway arch supports. These castings needed to uphold the structural demands of one of the busiest transit systems in the world, while meeting tight tolerances and design expectations from the New York City Department of Transportation.
Our team documented every phase of the project, capturing the evolution from blueprint to finished product. From raw material selection and pattern making to mold production, iron pouring, and the final inspection, each step was a testament to our foundry’s commitment to precision and quality.
Trumbull Metal Castings are Built to Last
